This historical match striker (or pyrogène in French) is modeled after ones found in 19th and early 20th century France. It was common to see these items on bistro and bar tables back then. The piece consists of two components: a cylindrical top to hold matches and a ribbed, strikeable base on the side. Companies also used them to advertise their products, often giving the pieces away for free. The strikers can also be used to hold a variety of items, such as toothpicks. The lines and accents are hand painted. Measures 3.5" tall x 3.5" in diameter. Includes a box of 100 red tip "strike anywhere" matches.
